Fanart - Paperman by Aluhnim Fanart - Paperman by Aluhnim
I guess I'm on a kick with these sketches. These were fun to do!

Paperman is a Disney short played before Wreck-It-Ralph. You should all watch it before it leaves the theaters!

EDIT: Okay, so uh, I'm actually not a professional. I'm just going to put a small watermark so I really don't have to worry about sourcing.

Paperman > Wreck-It Ralph
Man, I can't agree. They are on their own levels of awesome, honestly.

I'm really glad they were put together though, since their different qualities bounced off of one another so well!

Paperman was a black and white silent film in 2012. It's much more noable and memorable than WIR can ever hope to be, plus almost certain to win awards.
Paperman was a huge test on how they might integrate the 2D's visual appeal with 3D programming and animation. The short will hopefully open up new venues and bring back the aesthetic of 2D. There's almost no doubt that it will win awards, but that doesn't devalue the fact that Wreck-It Ralph wasn't notable and or memorable.

Which is why I'd rather say they are in different categories of "good". One is a short, while the other is a feature. Despite this short being something I've always wanted to see since it was announced doesn't overshadow how great Wreck-It Ralph's experience was. They both are animations and were played one after the other for a reason. They complimented each other really well, and they could work alone almost just as well. They had to deal with very different elements, technically and time-wise, and in my opinion pulled off some really magnificent things.

Sure, WIR might not win awards, but there were some story telling devices and character writing that was VERY, VERY impressive for 2012.
